These images are from a much larger body of work, documenting life (people and place) in Klong Toey Slums, Bangkok. Thailand is known as the "Land of Smiles", and despite significant hardship and poor living conditions, the people of Klong Toey Slums still exhibit a warm, welcoming smile, and trust towards strangers (myself). These images depict life on the streets, within the soi's (alleys) and the homes of people living in Klong Toey Slums. The images highlight family life, children at play, sporting activities, and lifestyle (family, gay couple, mother & child, shop owner, transgender), whilst contrasting the Klong Toey Slums against the evening skylight of the Motorway that surrounds it (above & below), where Swallows flit about in the evening light against the backdrop of the Cityscape, as night falls on the rooftops of Klongteoi Slums. |
